ARTIST STATEMENT

Making art, at least for me, has always been a somewhat complicated effort. Some find a direction and stick to it and develop their skills in that technique. I’ve always swayed back and forth, always wanting to experiment, often getting bored practicing one technique for too long. That’s what’s driving me today. That and my drive to make work that is meaningful and can hopefully speak to people in a more meaningful way. I feel like as an artist, I have an obligation to speak out for those that, for any number of reasons, might not be able to share their stories. I truly believe that each person will take their own message from each piece and will hopefully cause them to stop and think about the world and the people around them. I hope that my new body of work might be able to speak to those that need it.
