Project subtitle

“She used to smile” represents the many people, specifically women, who find themselves in any number of situations where they’re unhappy. In some cases they could leave or change their trajectory, but they find themselves forced to live in this life through heteronormativity, fear, etc. Maybe it’s an unhappy relationship, maybe it’s carrying out a pregnancy they don’t want or shouldn’t have or maybe it’s a fear of living their life openly. Here is where they find themselves, coping in whatever way they can.
